The disproportionate impacts of COVID-19 on communities of color and the recent events that have highlighted the structural racism in our country have made it more important than ever for diverse communities to come together to solve problems. At a time when anti-Asian racism is at an all time high, the Asian American Advertising Federation (3AF) devoted a portion of a recent town hall meeting to discussing how their community could develop allyship with Black and Brown communities.
In this segment, Diana Lee of Constellation Agency and Do Good Auto Coalition (DGAC) and Amiri Baraka, Jr., Chief of Staff of the City of Newark talked about the work the DGAC is doing to help the city improve food distribution in Newark, a majority minority city. They also talked about how we are beginning to break down some of the racial stereotypes that exist. The way forward is this type of open and honest conversation AND the actions that organizations like DGAC are taking to partner with communities in need.
